The History
In the past fifteen years there has been an urban renewal in Dallas. Former office buildings, banks, and department stores that had sat vacant for years have been converted into exclusive high rise lofts and apartments. Warehouse and manufacturing buildings that had been hat factories, flour mills and cotton gins in their previous lives are now offering eclectic residential spaces. All of these historic properties are primarily located in either Downtown or Deep Ellum. Downtown offers architectural styles ranging from gothic revival to sleek and modern, while Deep Ellum lofts feature concrete and hardwood floors, high ceilings, and industrial windows.
