White Rock Lake & Lakewood
White Rock Lake in east Dallas is a 1000 acre lake formed by damming White Rock Creek. The 9.3 mile trail surrounding the lake is the destination for many runners, walkers and cyclists. Due to a ban on motorized boats and swimming in the 1950's, the atmosphere of the lake is much more laid back and is an ideal spot for birdwatching, fishing and sailing. On one side the lake is bordered by the mostly residential Lakewood area, while on the southeast side there are more restaurants, shopping and the world-renowned Dallas Arboretum.
